The following three values are essential to our organization:
Education
When enrolled in our programming you will be emerged in a philosophy that uses both scientific based evidence alongside traditional pedagogical training methods. We strive to create an innovative training method that embraces both art and science to meet the demands of a career in dance.
We recognize dancers and dance educators needs beyond the physical training, supporting them with health wellness resources, educational workshops, and personalized attention. Placing value on individual voices, encouraging not just trained, but educated artists.
Culture
Our faculty and board members are selected based on excellence in their area of study, credential history alongside experience in the dance sector. Our students' success is dependent upon the collective energy, intelligence and contribution of all our faculty, and board members.
Creating an environment that demonstrates respect for equal opportunity for all persons and the inclusion of diversity as a priority within our organizations culture.
We aim to provide opportunities for board members, faculty, students, and our community to listen, learn and change. We look to policies that in effect create a welcoming space to belong, show diversity within our curriculum as well as leadership, and give space for individuality within our programming.
Community
We understand the importance community plays in contributing to a healthy, enriched life balance. We aim to contribute meaningfully to the culture vitality of the dance community in the following ways:
Connecting young artists with the professional dance community they will one day be joining;
Partnering with local dance organizations, to create platforms for education, and exchanging information;
Connecting parents to educational resources regarding dance training;
Providing a platform for dance scientists to share their findings with Atlantic Canada’s dance community, making dance science accessible to all dance schools;
Supporting professional artists within the dance community through workshop-based programming – virtually, and in-person; and
Providing community based performances.
